LYRICS
Verse1
Harmony, Unity, Celebrate our community
From West and North, East and South
Come with pride. Dance and shout
Just as our ancestors celebrated
the harvest of the first fruit
Chorus
Each and every day
Celebrating Kwanzaa (we pour tambiko for our ancestors)
Sherehe Ya Kwanzaa (without them there is no future)
Furahia Kwanzaa (teach Nguzo Saba)
Celebrating Kwanzaa (its values come from Africa)
Verse2
Bendera colours symbolize
With nia, imani, our people thrive
Zawadi shows our little ones
Honour, respect for all they've done
Chorus
Each and every day
Celebrating Kwanzaa (put the mazao on the mkeka)
Sherehe Ya Kwanzaa (the mishumaa in the kinara)
Furahia Kwanzaa (light the candle for umoja)
Celebrating Kwanzaa
Verse3
Kwanzaa began far away from the Motherland
Reclaimed, celebrated by Afrikans
Nguzo Saba lights the way
And guides our journey from day to day
Chorus(repeat)
Each and every day
Celebrating Kwanzaa (honour our ancestors)
Sherehe Ya Kwanzaa
Furahia Kwanzaa (jabulani ma Afrika)
Celebrating Kwanzaa (jabulani)
Proverbial Chant
We stand tall because
We stand on the shoulders of those
Who came before
Rap
Sherehe za Kwanzaa tumekusanyika furaha
Nguzo Saba reflects who we are
Wale wa nyumbani and those from diaspora
Utamaduni wetu unatia fora
Maulana Karenga's vision stands the largest
Muhindi honours the fruits of harvest
Tumekusanyika wahenga kuwaenzi
Ancestors, principles family and friends
Celebrate, Celebrate
Tuwashe mishumaa waje ndugu na jamaa
Kanuni ziwe maisha ya kila siku
Kijani nyekundu na nyeusi
Bendera tuwakilishe asili ya wakushi
Reaffirm kinship with the environment
Secular holiday for people's empowerment
Spiritual reverence, commemoration
Wholeheartedly, give thanks for creation
